Support shaped around each child and family

Kaya works in an integrative way, meaning sessions are adapted to the age, needs and comfort level of each child or young person. Support may include talking counselling, play, creativity, art, movement, mindfulness and emotional regulation tools.

Support that develops at the individual’s own pace

Counselling can provide a steady and supportive space for children, young people, parents and adults to better understand themselves, explore difficult experiences and develop new ways of coping, connecting and moving forward.

How Long Does Counselling Last?

Every young person is different, so there is no set length of counselling. Some children and teenagers may benefit from short-term counselling of around 6 sessions, while others may need longer-term support, sometimes extending to one or two years.

On average, Kaya works with young people for approximately 6–12 months, with progress and ongoing needs reviewed together along the way.

Child & Adolescent Counselling (5–18 years of age)

£75 per session · 50 minutes

A supportive space for children and young people to better understand themselves, process difficult experiences, connect with their emotions and body, and develop greater confidence and emotional regulation.

Counselling offers a space where children and young people do not have to perform, please others or have everything figured out. It gives them an opportunity to better understand themselves, process difficult experiences, connect with their emotions and body, and develop greater confidence, emotional regulation and a stronger sense of self at their own pace.

  • Anxiety, overthinking and emotional overwhelm
  • Low mood, low confidence and self-esteem

  • Social anxiety, fear of judgement and difficulties with belonging

Inner Child Work

£85 · 60 minutes

A compassionate space to explore how experiences from childhood may still be influencing the way you feel, relate to others and respond to situations in your life today.

Inner child work offers a compassionate space to explore how experiences from childhood may still be influencing the way you feel, relate to others and respond to situations in your life today.

Our early relationships and experiences can shape the beliefs we develop about ourselves, our patterns of attachment, emotional responses and ways of coping. Sometimes strategies that once helped us feel safe - such as people-pleasing, perfectionism, suppressing emotions, self-abandonment - can continue into adulthood, even when they are no longer serving us and may be affecting our wellbeing and relationships.

Through an integrative approach, Kaya supports clients to gently explore these patterns, reconnect with emotions and needs that may have been pushed aside, develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves, and begin to nurture and care for the younger parts of themselves.

Inner child work may be particularly helpful for exploring:

  • Codependent relationship patterns
  • Self-abandonment and consistently putting others’ needs before your own
  • People-pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries
  • Perfectionism and feeling “never good enough”
  • Fear of rejection or abandonment
  • Difficulties trusting or feeling safe in relationships
  • Self-criticism, shame and low self-worth
  • Suppressed anger or difficulty expressing emotions
  • Repeating relationship or family patterns
  • Difficulty recognising or expressing your own needs
  • Feeling disconnected from yourself or losing your sense of self in relationships
  • Childhood experiences that continue to affect you in adulthood

Drawing on somatic approaches and concepts from Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Energy Psychotherapy, Kaya supports clients to explore and process unresolved experiences not only through thoughts and emotions, but also through the body and nervous system.

Through this work, clients can begin to shift patterns that keep them stuck, strengthen their sense of autonomy and self-trust, reconnect with their own needs and develop healthier, more balanced ways of relating to themselves and others.

Reiki & Reiki-Informed Counselling

£75 · 60 minutes

A gentle, complementary approach for adults seeking relaxation, emotional balance, greater self-awareness and a deeper sense of connection with themselves.

A gentle, complementary approach for adults seeking relaxation, emotional balance, greater self-awareness and a deeper sense of connection with themselves.

Reiki is a Japanese energy-based practice that can offer a quiet, restorative space to slow down, reconnect with the body and support a sense of calm and wellbeing. It may be particularly helpful during periods of stress, emotional overwhelm, exhaustion or when you simply feel disconnected from yourself.

Kaya offers Reiki as a standalone complementary therapy or, where appropriate, integrates Reiki with counselling and reflective conversation. Combining the two can create space to explore thoughts and emotions while also bringing awareness to the body, nervous system and felt experience.

Reiki and Reiki-informed sessions may support:

  • Relaxation and a greater sense of calm
  • Stress, anxiety and emotional tension
  • Feeling overwhelmed, depleted or emotionally exhausted
  • Reconnecting with your body and yourself
  • Emotional grounding and self-awareness
  • Personal reflection and periods of transition or change

Distant Reiki — £70 · 60 minutes

For those who are unable to attend in person or prefer to receive Reiki from the comfort of their own home, Kaya offers distant Reiki sessions followed by personalised recorded feedback, sharing any observations, impressions or reflections from the session.

Reiki is offered as a complementary wellbeing practice and is not intended to diagnose or treat physical or mental health conditions. It does not replace appropriate medical, psychological or crisis support.
